Mar 2nd, 2008 · In a statement Saturday night, the United Nation's Security Council urged the Israelis and Palestinians to "immediately cease all acts of violence." The statement follows an Israeli offensive against Palestinian militants Saturday in Gaza that killed at least 54 people, many of them civilians. It was the deadliest day of fighting in more than a year.

May 8th, 2007 · Attorneys for oil giant Chevron are on the verge of a settlement with federal prosecutors after admiting the company gave kickbacks to former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. Saddam made almost $2 billion in back-door deals with various companies in the United Nation's Oil-for-Food program.

Oct 23rd, 2006 · The United Nation's top envoy to Sudan is being expelled. The government in Khartoum is accusing Jan Pronk of demonstrating "enmity" to the Sudanese army by stating that it has recently suffered heavy losses in Darfur -- and that the army's morale is low.
