Some of those issues are all too visible in the U.S., where addiction touches the lives of millions, as well as in Mexico, where thousands of soldiers, police, prosecutors and civilians have been murdered in the battle between the government and drug traffickers. Liane Hansen speaks with Gil Kerlikowske, the Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, about recent efforts to stem the flow of drugs from Mexican by decreasing the demand in the U.S.

A thief seized the opportunity to pull open the car door and make off with the lady's handbag. She told the BBC that her purse contained jewels, rings and earrings worth more than $6 million.

Feb 12th, 2010 · Winter storm warnings spanned the Gulf Coast states early Friday as the snow crawled east out of Texas, where it left the Dallas area with more than a foot of snow, nearly 200 traffic accidents and hundreds of canceled flights. Snow, ice and sleet closed parts of Interstate 49 in central Louisiana early Friday.
