Nov 13th, 2008 · In some areas of the country, there's a shortage of kosher meat. One of the largest kosher meat companies has shut down its beef slaughtering facility. A plant owned by Agriprocessors Inc. in Iowa was raided earlier this year by federal immigration authorities. Adriene Hill reports for Chicago Public Radio.

Aug 6th, 2008 · The Rwandan government has accused senior French officials of direct involvement in the slaughter of 800 thousand in 1994. A report from a Rwandan commission investigating the genocide alleges 33 senior French officials — including a former president and a former prime minister — were complicit in the genocide. France says its forces in Rwanda at the time were trying to stop the killing.

Oct 16th, 2007 · DeKalb, Ill., 60 miles west of Chicago, was home to the only plant in the nation that slaughtered horses for human consumption. But Illinois lawmakers banned the practice this year, and the slaughterhouse was shut down. Some horse owners worry that the law might have made things worse.
Oct 14th, 2007 · A House committee has voted to call on President Bush to declare that the slaughter of Armenians by Ottoman Turks 90 years ago was genocide. Turkey and the Bush administration worked unsuccessfully to defeat the resolution, but the battle is not over.
