Carr was a childhood friend of Rosa Parks, and led the Montgomery Improvement Association for decades. The organization was formed after Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus, sparking the beginning of the Montgomery bus boycott.
Sep 2nd, 2007 · Though its name may not be well known, Tennessee's Highlander Center, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this weekend, was central to the training of many of the country's best-known civil rights heroes between the mid-1950s and early '60s, including Rosa Parks.

Mar 28th, 2006 · Some Alabama state legislators want to pardon civil rights icon Rosa Parks for the 1955 arrest that triggered the Montgomery bus boycott.
