In Richmond, Va., the queen spoke this afternoon at the state capitol about the long friendship between the United States and the United Kingdom.

Nov 28th, 2006 · A German man who is suing the United States says he was detained in Afghanistan and tortured by the CIA, which mistakenly identified him as a terrorist. But the U.S. government says there is no way for a court to hear Khaled El-Masri's case without compromising national security. A federal district court has dismissed the case, but El-Masri is asking the appeals court in Richmond to overturn the ruling. Michele Norris talks with NPR's Ari Shapiro.
Nov 13th, 2006 · A new $13 million museum in Richmond, Va., allows visitors to learn about the Civil War from the perspective of the Union, the Confederacy, and black people of the time. Housed in a restored gun foundry on the banks of the James River, the museum has received rave reviews from historians.

Oct 20th, 2006 · Residents of a crime-plagued neighborhood in Richmond, Calif., are trying to reclaim one of the city's toughest areas, the so-called "Iron Triangle." They've pitched what amounts to a tent city, in hopes of discouraging drug dealers, gangs and thugs from doing business there.
Jun 21st, 2006 · Trauma care professionals C. William Schwab and Therese Richmond work at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia. After years of treating patients in the emergency room, Schwab and Richmond have co-founded the Firearm Injury Center at Penn in an effort to systematically reduce the epidemic of gunshot wounds in the United States.
