Clinton, Byrd Call for Revoking War Authority

May 4th, 2007 · Democratic Sens. Hillary Clinton and Robert Byrd have proposed that Congress revoke the authority it gave President Bush in 2002 to run the Iraq war. The senators want the authorization to expire on Oct. 11, 2007, the fifth anniversary of Congress' original vote. It is unclear whether revoking the president's authority would bring the troops home.

Russia Revokes Permit for Sakhalin Oil Project *

Credit-Counseling Firms Lose Tax-Exempt Status

May 15th, 2006 · The Internal Revenue Service is revoking the tax exempt status of some of the largest credit counseling agencies in the country. An IRS investigation disclosed that the firms solicited business from people seriously in debt and that they didn't provide counseling or consumer education, as required. IRS Commissioner Mark Everson says the companies "poisoned an entire sector of the charitable community."

Libya Overturns Convictions in HIV Infection Case *
