Sep 17th, 2008 · Hurricane Ike has left Texas devastated and many people without houses to live in. Some are taking refuge at Red Cross shelters across the state. Cots are still lined up in gymnasiums, churches and schools, including in the small town of Brezoria.
Jun 18th, 2008 · The Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund is now taking out loans to pay for food, shelter and other services for flood victims in the Midwest. The total bill for that flood relief will be at least $15 million and the Red Cross is asking the public to help them out.
Jun 14th, 2008 · When the floodwaters engulfed communities in Iowa residents thought they would immediately be given food, water, shelter and other assistance. But Indiana Public Broadcasting's Marianne Holland finds that before the Red Cross and other relief workers can provide that assistance, an area needs to be declared a federal disaster area.
Apr 10th, 2008 · For years, the U.S. military has been criticized for its secret detention facility at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. The Red Cross says that unlike other prisoners in Afghanistan, nearly 650 people held at Bagram are never allowed family visits. But a new video-call program appears to be easing their isolation.

Aug 9th, 2007 · Red Cross and health care giant Johnson & Johnson shared the red-cross symbol of relief for more than a century. But J&J is suing the Red Cross for trademark infringement, charging it is licensing the red-cross symbol to for-profit companies that sell medical equipment.
Jun 6th, 2007 · Apparently free cookies are no longer enough incentive for people to give blood, so Red Cross officials in two states are offering something else. You can trade your blood for gasoline. In Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, blood donors have a chance to win their cars' lifeblood. Give a pint of your blood, and you're entered into a drawing for a $25 gas card. That's that's dollars, not gallons, so hurry, before the price goes up.
Dec 3rd, 2006 · This past week, the Food and Drug Administration fined the American Red Cross more than $5 million dollars for bad bookkeeping and labeling problems. It's the latest in a series of FDA actions against the Red Cross. Debbie Elliott talks with Jon Hamilton about what prompted the fine, and what it really amounts to in the multibillion dollar business of blood.
