In this segment: Harmonica player Larry Adler performed with legendary entertainers including Fred Astaire, George Gershwin, and Jack Benny, but he was blacklisted amid the anti-communist fervor surrounding the McCarthy hearings of the 1950s. Jan 8th, 2007 · On the occasion of his 60th birthday, we rebroadcast an excerpt of a 2002 interview with David Bowie. More than 30 years ago, Bowie created the gender-bending Ziggy Stardust, and produced the now classic album, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. With it, Bowie helped invent glam-rock. This interview originally aired on Sept. 4, 2002.

Dec 15th, 2006 · Jazz musician Kenny Davern died this week at the age of 71. Davern loved traditional jazz, and played clarinet and soprano saxophone. He was a member of Soprano Summit, along with Dick Wellstood and Bob Wilber. We rebroadcast a live concert with Davern, performing with guitarist Howard Alden and bassist Phil Flannagan. This originally aired on Feb. 18, 1988.

Sep 26th, 2006 · It took filmmaker Henry Hampton 12 years to bring Eyes on the Prize to television. When he did, the PBS documentary on the civil rights movement was a revelation for much of America. Nearly 20 years later, PBS will rebroadcast the series.
