Oct 23rd, 2008 · A New York City man is convinced the elephant-headed Hindu god Ganesh appeared to him in his backyard as a purple flower. The 4-foot tall plant sprouted up between concrete slabs in Sam Lal's backyard in Queens. He says the plant began to resemble an elephant's head and trunk. Lal, a Hindu, told the New York Daily News the plant has healed his back pain. Adding,"They say God comes in many forms. I figure this has taken the form of a plant to come into my yard and bless me."

Sep 22nd, 2008 · How do you spell New York? Apparently, you use tow trucks. A procession of 292 tow trucks rumbled through New York City over the weekend to set a new world record for the largest parade of its kind. The fleet started at Shea Stadium, home to the New York Mets in Queens, and finished at an abandoned airport tarmac. There, they spelled out: New York. The feat smashed the previous tow truck parade record: 83, in 2004 in Washington state.

Apr 25th, 2008 · A New York judge has found three police officers not guilty in the death of an unarmed black man who was hit by a barrage of bullets and died hours before his wedding. Along with two friends, Bell was shot after a bachelor party at a Queens strip club on Nov. 25, 2006. Bullets struck Bell 50 times.

Oct 8th, 2007 · The story of Jordan Belfort, the former meat salesman from Queens who built a $100 million fortune by selling artificially inflated stocks to investors, is slated to be made into a movie with Leonardo DiCaprio. In the famed Stratton Oakmont scandal, Belfort spent 22 months in prison. He now says that he has changed; he has written a memoir about his boiler-room days.
