The administration says global warming, pollution and over-hunting are threatening the bear's existence. The polar bear would be the first species listed as endangered because of climate change.

A six-year experiment to find out how increased levels of carbon dioxide affect forests uncovered a surprising result: In the area used for the experiment, poison ivy grew like crazy. NASA officials say ice worms offer clues as to how life can exist in extreme environments, maybe unlocking mysteries about possible life on other planets or chilly moons.
