New Jobless Claims Dip; Factory Weakness Continues

Jan 28th, 2010 · The number of new claims for unemployment benefits fell less than expected last week, fresh evidence of a weak job market. Demand for big-ticket manufactured goods rose modestly in December, but not enough to prevent orders from plunging by a record 20.2 percent for all of 2009.
