Sep 4th, 2008 · Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin electrified the crowd Wednesday night at the Republican National Convention. The vice presidential nominee attacked Barack Obama, praised John McCain and pushed back against criticism that she is too inexperienced to be on the ticket. Delegates also heard from former presidential candidates Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee and Rudolph Giuliani.
Sep 2nd, 2008 · Sarah Palin was thought to be a pick of potentially high risk and high reward when she was selected as John McCain's running mate. So far, the reward has been that, as a Washington outsider with a conservative record, she has galvanized the base and boosted the campaign's fundraising. On Monday, however, the potential risks of a largely unknown candidate also were on display as the campaign released a statement that Palin's 17-year-old daughter is pregnant.

Jun 11th, 2008 · Police Chief Cathy Lanier says the city's Trinidad neighborhood has seen a spike in homicides, mostly as a result of drive-by shootings from "rival crews" from outside the area. Last weekend, the police set up a checkpoint in the neighborhood to deter outsiders. The ACLU has protested the move, but Lanier says the checkpoint is working.
