Dec 19th, 2004 · Renowned opera singer Renata Tebaldi died Sunday at her home in Italy. Tebaldi, one of the great Italian operatic sopranos of the 20th century, was 82. Patrick Smith, former editor of Opera News, says the sound of her voice was like "pouring cream." Hear NPR's Jennifer Ludden.

Nov 25th, 2004 · Gioacchino Rossini, the great opera composer, was also a great gourmand. In fact, the man behind The Barber of Seville retired from composition when he was just 37 and spent the rest of his life -- about 40 more years --enjoying food. On this Thanksgiving, NPR's Fred Child celebrates with a tribute to Rossini.
