After spending the rest of the winter and part of the spring at a bat sanctuary in Northern Virginia under the care of bat expert Leslie Sturges, it was released this week into the woods. Jun 9th, 2007 · It's been 40 years since the Six Day War, a conflict between Israel and the Arab states of Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Iraq. One of the lesser known incidents of the in l967 conflict involved an Israeli attack on a U.S. spy ship, killing 34 Americans. Some of the survivors -- who are still angry -- spoke with Michele Keleman at a reunion this week in Northern Virginia.

Oct 31st, 2006 · Family and friends gathered today in Northern Virginia to bury Arnold "Red" Auerbach, the legendary coach of the Boston Celtics. Auerbach died Saturday at 89. His funeral drew friends from Auerbach's college days, and players from his powerhouse teams. For many, the occasion offered one more chance to reminisce about his mystique.

Sep 29th, 2004 · Major League Baseball announces that the Montreal Expos will move to Washington, D.C., in time for the 2005 season. The city, chosen over finalists including Las Vegas and Northern Virginia, has not had a baseball team since the Senators left in 1971. A publicly financed stadium is to be built along the Anacostia River south of the Capitol. NPR's Brian Naylor reports.
