Oct 16th, 2008 · A Nebraska state senator last year filed a lawsuit against God. Ernie Chambers sought an injunction against God because of widespread death and destruction. Judge Marlon Polk has thrown out the lawsuit. He says there's no way to properly notify the defendant. You can't serve papers on a man with no address. Chambers says he may appeal. He contends that God is aware of the charges, since God is all-knowing.

Now state officials, who say parents fed up with raising unruly older children are misusing the law, are calling on the legislature to restrict the age to younger children.

Sep 19th, 2008 · A group of Nebraska parents is so vehemently opposed to school district mergers that they are appealing the issue to the Supreme Court. It's an issue elsewhere as well; Pennsylvania is planning to combine two districts for the first time in 20 years and merger battles are underway in Georgia, Maine, North Dakota, among other states.

Aug 18th, 2008 · Last month, the state of Nebraska enacted a safe haven law. Typically these laws apply to newborn infants; parents can leave their babies at a designated safe place without fear of prosecution for child abandonment. But the Nebraska law actually applies to any child up to 19.
