May 16th, 2007 · The White House has named Lt. Gen. Douglas Lute to serve on President Bush's National Security Council and to oversee the current fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Some are calling him the "war czar," but it's not clear just how much power Lute will actually have, or how he will fit into the military-civilian mix.
Apr 25th, 2007 · Moroccan authorities believe the village of Tetuan has sent as many as 30 suicide bombers from the North African village to Iraq. Scott Atran, senior fellow at City University of New York's Center on Terrorism, briefed the National Security Council on the issue in March.

Dec 11th, 2006 · President Bush meets State Department officials today to get their advice on developing a new Iraq strategy. The president has meetings planned with other agencies, including the Pentagon and the National Security Council, before he delivers a speech about the situation in Iraq.
Dec 10th, 2006 · President Bush this week is committed to redefining his policy in Iraq. Although the bipartisan Iraq Study Group gave the President 79 suggestions on change in tactics in Iraq, it seems as though he's looking for more -- mainly from the Pentagon, State Department and National Security Council.
Nov 29th, 2006 · In a classified memo to President Bush, National Security Council officials expressed doubts about the ability of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to control violence in his country. The memo notes that al-Maliki relies on extreme Shiite groups for support. Mike Pesca speaks with Michael Gordon, the New York Times reporter who broke the story.
