Canadian Booksellers Take a Hit on Dual Pricing *

Nov 12th, 2007 · Canadian booksellers are suffering with the rapid rise in value of the Canadian dollar. The majority of books are "dual-priced" -- they list both a U.S. price and a Canadian price, and the latter is always higher. Despite the rise of the Canadian dollar, booksellers haven't been able to persuade publishers or distributors to reduce the price disparity. Audrey's Books in Edmonton recently announced it would charge U.S. prices for dual-priced books. Melissa talks with co-owner Steve Budnarchuk.

U.S. Women Lose to Brazil in World Cup Semis *

Sep 27th, 2007 · The top-ranked U.S. women's soccer team lost in the semifinals of the World Cup. The 4-to-zero defeat against Brazil takes the team out of the running for the championship this year. The loss came after coach Greg Ryan made a controversial decision to change the team's goal keepers. Tony DiCicco is the former coach of the U.S. Woman's National Team and currently an ESPN analyst. Army Major Faces Prison on Bribery Charges ****

Jul 24th, 2007 · An Army major is in jail, awaiting a hearing Wednesday in San Antonio on charges that he accepted up to $10 million in bribes from Defense Department contractors seeking to do business in Iraq and Kuwait. Maj. John Cockerham and his wife, Melissa, face up to 40 years in prison.

Somalia's Islamist Forces Vacate Last Stronghold ***
