The sentencing judge said Jones' punishment should send a message to athletes who cheat with performance-enhancing drugs.

The Marion, Ill., VA Medical Center has seen a spike in its post-operative death rate. In many cases, the troubles can be linked to one doctor who was hired at the VA despite being under investigation for dangerously substandard care in Massachusetts. Now, an Illinois senator is calling for a criminal probe, while the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee prepares for a hearing Tuesday on the VA's medical hiring practices and quality controls in the wake of the problems at Marion.
