Marine Aquitted of Murder in Killing of Iraqi Civilian

Aug 3rd, 2007 · A Marine Cpl. Marshall Magincalda is found not guilty of murder, but a jury holds him responsible on other charges in connection with a conspiracy to kill an Iraqi civilian. Magincalda is freed Friday after serving 448 days in custody as he awaited trial.

Marine Receives Posthumous Medal of Honor ****

Jan 11th, 2007 · President Bush awards the Medal of Honor to Marine Cpl. Jason Dunham, who died in Iraq two years ago. Dunham died after throwing himself on a live hand grenade to save his fellow Marines. His parents accepted the award on his behalf. Michele Norris talks with Deb and Dan Dunham about that experience, and memories of their son.

Marine from Texas Was a 'Perfect Role Model' ***

Dec 18th, 2006 · Marine Cpl. Michael Craig Ledsome of Austin, Texas, was killed in Iraq last month. He was 24 years old. Ledsome grew up in Brownwood, a small town about 100 miles northwest of Austin. He went to Brownwood High School, where he's remembered as an excellent student and a bit of a joker. Colorado Marine Chose to Lead, Serve in Iraq ***

Nov 29th, 2006 · Marine Cpl. Kyle W. Powell of Colorado Springs, Colo., died earlier this month in Fallujah, Iraq. The 21-year-old was on his third combat tour when a roadside bomb he discovered detonated, killing Powell and a fellow Marine. Eric Whitney of member station KRCC has this remembrance.

Maryland Town Mourns Second Soldier Lost in Iraq *

Dec 27th, 2005 · Marine Cpl. Joshua Snyder of Maryland died under enemy fire in Iraq. He was a good friend and high school teammate of Lance Cpl. Norman Anderson, a fallen Marine profiled by NPR last month. Friends and family are mourning the losses in Parkton, the men's hometown.

Family Recalls Marine Who Died in Helicopter Crash **

Feb 3rd, 2005 · A family remembers the life of Marine Cpl. Nathan Schubert, who died last week along with 30 other servicemen in a helicopter crash in western Iraq. It was the single deadliest event for the American military in Iraq since the invasion in March of 2003.
