Sep 19th, 2008 · Pulitzer Prize-winner Marilynne Robinson returns to the town of Gilead, scene of her last novel. Home has a less meditative tone that suits its younger characters, especially Jack, the wayward son who returns in search of redemption.
Feb 8th, 2005 · Housekeeping, the first novel from Marilynne Robinson, won a PEN/Hemingway Award. Now 23 years later, she's written a second novel, Gilead. She's written non-fiction in the interim, including Mother Country and The Death of Adam. Gilead is written as a letter from a 76-year-old Congregationalist Preacher to his seven-year-old son. Robinson is a Congregationalist, and has served as a deacon in the church.
