Dec 1st, 2008 · Residents of San Francisco can give their city a Christmas present — a tree. The city, Friends of the Urban Forest and SF Environment are selling potted trees. After Christmas, the trees can be left on the street for pickup and planting. The spindly young trees aren't terribly traditional — one is a southern magnolia. Presumably the holiday spirit can be found in celebrating a greener Christmas.
Apr 30th, 2007 · The cherry trees, camellias and magnolias are in bloom this week at the Polly Hill Arboretum at Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts -- a fitting tribute to Polly Hill, the legendary horticulturalist who died last week at 100. Hill began planting seeds outside her West Tisbury home more than four decades ago.

Aug 7th, 2006 · Actor John C. Reilly is probably best known for his association with filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson, who cast Reilly in the films such as Hard 8, Boogie Nights and Magnolia. He also earned an Oscar nomination for his performance in Chicago. Reilly steps into a comedic role along Will Ferrell as a NASCAR driver in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
Mar 10th, 2006 · Actor Philip Baker Hall has appeared in the Paul Thomas Anderson films Hard Eight, Boogie Nights, and Magnolia. He also played a Joe Friday-type cop in an episode of Seinfeld on the trail of overdue library books.

Her haunting ballad "Save Me," from the 1999 film Magnolia earned her an Academy Award nomination. Before she kicked off her summer concert tour, she spoke about the kind of books she'll pick up before leaving town.
