Some of the biggest stars in the jazz universe stop by to pay tribute to McPartland, and the birthday girl gets everything she wants, performing duets with singer Norah Jones, violinist Regina Carter and trumpeter Jeremy Pelt.

May 21st, 2007 · Liz Pappademas says she was "born in the back seat of a Checker cab in front of Lincoln Center in New York," but grew up in San Francisco, where she wrote and recorded her latest CD, 11 Songs. It's a beautifully downbeat collection of piano-driven art-pop tunes reflecting on cheery themes of broken hearts, bitterness and murder.
Jan 4th, 2007 · NPR and WBGO's "Toast of the Nation" features a never-aired show from alto saxophonist Bobby Watson's Kansas City Jump Band at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York. Also on the bill: a tribute to pianist Jay "Hootie" McShann (1916-2006), the last of the great Kansas City players.
Nov 25th, 2006 · A trilogy by Tom Stoppard called The Coast of Utopia comes to New York City's Lincoln Center on Nov. 27. The three-part epic, which has 44 cast members, begins in 1833 and spans 30 years, centering on a band of Russian intellectuals. Tom Vitale reports on the challenges of planning, rehearsing, and presenting the plays in succession and in one-day marathons toward the end of the run.
