Dec 9th, 2008 · Used car dealer Shawn Byrne tried to get JN36TN —a reference to John 3:16 — as a personalized license plate. His request was rejected by the state of the Vermont which has a no religion policy for vanity plates. Now it's up to a federal judge to decide if that rule is a violation of the First Amendment.
Dec 2nd, 2008 · A New York man has been keeping his license plates inside his car. He says that's the only way to preserve them. Jonathan Lifschutz has vanity plates with five letters that read: OBAMA. Lifschutz is a former donor to Hillary Clinton. But after Barack Obama started winning Democratic primaries, Lifschutz went to the Department of Motor Vehicles and got the plates. He says the only trouble is that people keep trying to steal them.

Nov 12th, 2008 · Across Connecticut, town clerks began issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples on Wednesday — just a week after voters in California passed a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage there. Connecticut and Massachusetts are the only states that allow same-sex marriages.
Nov 3rd, 2008 · Craig Schulz, Charles Schulz's son, talks about the release of 20 Peanuts digital shorts online that are based on the classic comic strips from 1964. Schulz is president of Creative Associates, which approved and manages all of the licensing for Peanuts-related products.
Oct 30th, 2008 · MTV Networks is expected to announce Thursday a deal to use songs by The Beatles in its popular "Rock Band" video game series. This would be the group's first digital licensing deal. It would also be a huge coup for Viacom, which owns "Rock Band." The company's been vying with rival video game, "Guitar Hero," for the valuable repertoire.
Oct 20th, 2008 · A dispute between retired NFL players and their union heads to federal court Monday for a trial about money. More than 2,000 former players filed a class-action lawsuit against the NFL Players Association charging the union breached a contract that would've supplied the players with millions of dollars in licensing revenue.
