Mar 1st, 2008 · China and the United States signed an arrangement Friday granting the U.S. limited but long-desired access to military records of the People's Liberation Army. U.S. officials hope the records will help clarify the fate of some 8,000 servicemen still unaccounted for from the Korean War. Charles Ray, the deputy assistant secretary of defense for POW/missing personnel affairs, who signed the agreement, talks to Jacki Lyden.

Sep 16th, 2007 · The Chinese government organized a reporters' trip to an army base in central Henan province to see the People's Liberation Army engineering unit headed to Darfur to join peacekeeping forces there. Saturday's reporting trip was clearly an attempt to deflect criticism over China's close economic ties with the government of Sudan which is held responsible for much of the killing in Darfur. But the trip also highlighted China's growing participation in UN and other peacekeeping efforts.
