Karaoke's Creator Wins Ig Nobel Prize

Oct 1st, 2004 · Daisuke Inoue, the inventor of karaoke, was awarded the 2004 Ig Nobel Peace Prize last night, "for inventing karaoke, thereby providing an entirely new way for people to learn to tolerate each other." The Ig Nobel Prizes are awarded annually for achievements that "celebrate the unusual" and "honor the imaginative," according to its organizers, The Annals of Improbable Research. We hear Inoue accept the prize at last night's ceremony.
