Mother, Daughter Guilty Of Smuggling Monkey

Dec 9th, 2008 · The baby had a face that only a mother could love. And even then, the mother was a monkey. A Washington state woman was convicted of sneaking a rhesus monkey from Thailand into the United States. Gypsy Lawson got past U.S. Customs by tucking the monkey under her blouse and pretending to be pregnant. The jury also convicted Lawson's traveling companion: her mother. Or as the monkey would presumably refer to her: Grandma.

Bratz Dolls To Disappear From Toy Shelves

Dec 4th, 2008 · Just in time for the holidays, a federal judge has granted giant toymaker Mattel one of its big wishes. The judge ordered a rival company to stop selling Bratz dolls, which have undercut sales of Mattel's own Barbie. Wednesday's ruling follows a jury's finding that Bratz doll designer Carter Bryant came up with the pouty-lipped dolls while working for Mattel. The judge said the Bratz dolls may remain on store shelves until after the holidays.
