U.S. DOT May Cap Air Traffic into JFK, Newark

Sep 25th, 2007 · The federal government may put a cap on the number of flights in and out of two of the nation's busiest airports: John F. Kennedy in New York and Newark, in New Jersey. The idea is to relieve the gridlock that often starts there, and ripples across the country. That gridlock caused the worst summer of flight delays on record; Wednesday, Congress will hold hearings on the issue. The FAA says the airlines are over-scheduling flights at peak hours and the air traffic control is overloaded. The airlines say customers want cheap and convenient flights.
