Dec 1st, 2008 · Residents of San Francisco can give their city a Christmas present — a tree. The city, Friends of the Urban Forest and SF Environment are selling potted trees. After Christmas, the trees can be left on the street for pickup and planting. The spindly young trees aren't terribly traditional — one is a southern magnolia. Presumably the holiday spirit can be found in celebrating a greener Christmas.
Nov 3rd, 2008 · San Francisco's legendary liberalism will be put to the test by a ballot measure that would decriminalize prostitution and prohibit authorities from arresting or prosecuting a person for selling sex. Proposition K stops police from treating prostitution like a crime.

Jul 7th, 2008 · A new California company, WiFi Rail, is close to sealing a deal with San Francisco's Bay Area Rapid Transit district to build wireless Internet access throughout the transit system. If successful, the network would be the largest transit-based Wi-Fi system in the country. Over the last few years, a string of municipal wireless networks have failed.
