Man Stuck In Utah Cave Dies Despite Rescue Efforts

Nov 26th, 2009 · John Jones, 26, of Stansbury Park died nearly 28 hours after he became stuck 700 feet into the cave known as Nutty Putty, a Utah County Sheriff's Department spokesman said. Rescuers were next to Jones for much of the day, but he was wedged in a small hole too tightly to pull him out. He had been exploring the cave passages with a group of people.

Labor Laws May Make Ski Slopes Lose International Flair

Many ski resorts have long populated their slopes with ski instructors and ski patrol workers from all over the world, bringing them in on H2B visas. But now the U.S. Labor Department wants the ski industry to pay travel expenses for these workers; an unaffordable expense for many ski areas during this recession. U.S. To 'Test' Iran's Willingness On Nuclear Talks

Calif. Wildfires Threaten Lives, Homes

Aug 31st, 2009 · The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says five people who refused to heed wildfire evacuation orders are trapped in a canyon and it's too dangerous to rescue them. The wildfires are threatening thousands of homes in the area, prompting Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to declare a state of emergency in four counties.
