President Obama and leaders in Congress say they are confident the bill will pass, but there are still holdouts. Illinois Congressman Luis Gutierrez was one of them — until yesterday when he announced his support for the bill. The Democratic representative threatened to withhold his vote due to the president's lack of movement on immigration reform. Wednesday, the heads of dozens of religious orders representing 59,000 nuns signed a letter urging Congress to approve the health care bill. Their stance is clashing with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, who oppose the bill, due to the belief that it provides for federal funding of abortions.
