Feb 8th, 2010 · The New Orleans Saints are the champions of the National Football League. The Saints beat the favored Colts by two touchdowns, 31-17 in Miami, to win their first championship. Saints quarterback Dree Brees tied a Super Bowl record for completions and was voted the game's MVP.
Jan 30th, 2010 · Serena Williams won her second straight Australian Open championship, ending Justine Henin's hopes of a Grand Slam title in her return from retirement with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 victory Saturday.
Jan 15th, 2010 · Kate Moore of Des Moines, Iowa, got in trouble. She was sending text messages in class, and the teacher took her phone away. She could go back to that teacher and say 'Look at me now. At 16, Moore competed in the World Cup of texting. Contestants were tested on their speed writing messages. The American team just missed the championship, losing to the South Korean team.
Jan 8th, 2010 · Alabama claimed its first U.S. college football title since 1992 when they defeated Texas 37-21 in the BCS National Championship Game at the Rose Bowl on Thursday. Texas lost All-American quarterback Colt McCoy on the team's first possession with a shoulder injury.
Dec 26th, 2009 · Florida coach Urban Meyer, who was admitted to a hospital because of chest pains following the Southeastern Conference championship game, is stepping down because of health concerns.
Dec 18th, 2009 · The NFL's Jets and Giants want to bring the championship game to the new stadium they will share. It's in New Jersey, just across from New York City. It has neither a retractable roof nor a dome. One time only, the league will waive the requirement that the Super Bowl be played in warm weather or indoors. So the new stadium is allowed to bid to host the Super Bowl in 2014.
Dec 11th, 2009 · Former University of Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly was introduced Friday as the new coach of a storied program that hasn't won a national title in 21 years. Kelly, who led Cincinnati to back-to-back Big East championships, said he knows there are challenges and he's ready for them.
