Mar 16th, 2010 · Housing construction fell 5.9 percent last month as winter blizzards held down activity in the Northeast and South. Building permits, considered a good barometer of future activity, fell 1.6 percent.
Mar 4th, 2010 · The White House is preemptively blaming the weather for a possibly bleak jobs report on Friday. Blizzards blanketed much of the Northeast last month, preventing some people from getting to work, and getting paid. Diane Swonk, chief economist at Mesirow Financial, discusses the upcoming report.
Feb 10th, 2010 · The second major snowstorm in less than a week barreled into the region, leaving more than 10 inches of new snow in northern Maryland and threatening a similar whiteout for New York City. Thousands of workers were scrambling to plow and salt roads as the storm cancelled flights and closed schools and businesses.
Feb 7th, 2010 · The huge winter storm that's come to be known as 'Snowmageddon' and the 'Snowpocalypse' is over. Now the 'Big Dig' begins. The blizzard dumped more than two feet of snow in parts of the Mid-Atlantic states. Hundreds of thousands of people are without power, roofs collapsed and tree limbs snapped under the weight of the snow. At least two deaths are blamed on storm.
