Despite his brief career -- he was with Pink Floyd for less than three years and released two solo albums -- Syd Barrett was a primary catalyst for British psychedelic rock.
Jul 11th, 2006 · Syd Barrett, co-founder of the influential British rock 'n' roll group Pink Floyd, has died. Musician and Day to Day contributor David Was of the group Was (Not Was) offers a remembrance of the talented but troubled Barrett, who struggled with mental illness and drug addiction and left Pink Floyd before the group hit it big.
Apr 20th, 2006 · Rick Barrett, a retired DEA officer, is trying to get the Chicago police department to recognize Constable James Quinn as the first Chicago policeman killed in the line of duty. According to the Chicago Police Dept., Quinn died in drunken bar fight, and was not on duty. Melissa Block talks with Barret about why the city should recognize Quinn's passing.
