Jun 21st, 2007 · An arrest warrant was issued for Rakhat Aliev, the country's ambassador to Vienna, Austria, who is also the son-in-law of the president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Aliev has been charged with kidnapping and running a mafia network. He accused Nazarbayev of orchestrating a politically motivated attack against him.
Jun 14th, 2007 · Kurt Waldheim, the former U.N. secretary-general and Austrian president, has died at 88. Waldheim's tenure as Austria's president was tainted by revelations that he had concealed his service in the German army in Greece during World War II, at a time when the Nazis committed numerous war crimes.
