U.S. Companies Scramble for Foreign Worker Visas

Apr 1st, 2008 · The federal government on Tuesday begins accepting H-1B visa applications. The government grants 65,000 visas by a lottery system -- mostly to technology companies so they can hire highly skilled workers from outside the U.S. Last year, it received more than double that number in applications -- on the first day.

Microsoft Takes $1B Charge for Warranty

Jul 6th, 2007 · Microsoft announces it will take a $1 billion charge to expand the warranty for its Xbox 360 video game consoles. The company says too many of the machines have succumbed to "general hardware failure." Microsoft is extending the warranty on the machines to three years.
